Spending some time in Sheffield

Located in the north of England, Sheffield is a city that has a lot to offer. Not only is it a city filled with generations of families, it is a city to many students not only from the UK but students from across the globe.

After spending the weekend in Sheffield, visiting my sister, I have experienced only a small portion of what the city has to offer. With her attending Sheffield Hallam University her accommodation is located right in the centre of the student rush.

One place I visited during my time there was a place called the Moor. The Moor is a street not far from the Sheffield train station and it’s lined with a wide range of shops and restaurants. Buskers performed up and down the street and the mad rush of people made me feel like I was back in London. With music filtering through the air and the breeze from the cold January winter it was the perfect way to spend the day. The cute cafes that were also present on the street were cosy and warm, and the one that I visited was just the same.

The Moor is not the only popular shopping area that locals visit, Sheffield is home to a massive shopping centre called Meadowhall. This shopping centre has so many different shops, restaurants, cafes and even a cinema. With 1.4 million square feet of floor space and home to 290 stores, Meadowhall is the biggest complex in Sheffield. For me I had a great time looking around the shops and seeing what the centre had to offer. After spending a couple hours shopping and spending all of my money! I took a visit to the food court.

The food court was a vast area filled with all different types of restaurants, it was a hard choice to make when we were deciding on where to eat but ultimately we decided on a pizza parlour called Three Joes. The pizza there was absolutely amazing, with authentic Italian pizza dough cooked perfectly in the stone pizza oven and topped with the best tomato base and chosen toppings, the food was full of flavour and was the perfect consistency. When we visited the restaurant we couldn’t turn down a cheesy garlic bread for starters, and it went down a treat.

Although Meadowhall is home to some amazing restaurants, for me its no competition for the other place I went to. Cutlery Works is a restaurant that is located on Neepsend Lane, and if I was to describe it in any way it would be fantastic. I wouldn’t class Cutlery Works as a restaurant as it is more like Camden Market but indoors. It has a multitude of food stalls located in the warehouse like building, and once you’ve brought up the menu and put in your table number, you order whatever food you’re fancying and it is brought straight to your table. The service and drinks were fantastic but the food was even better. I ordered Korean style spicy chicken with sticky rice, I’ve been craving more of it ever since I left.

All in all my trip to Sheffield was perfect, mooching round the shops, stuffing my face with superb food and seeing the city for the first time I would defiantly be going back.
