Franco Manca, an Italian chain restaurant with locations dotted around the country, is an amazing experience for everyone. With stone cooked pizzas on the menu, the restaurant is a buzzing success. The pizzas are full of flavour and taste just like authentic Italian ones.
The branch we visited was in Canary Wharf and the service there was brilliant, the restaurant had a cosy small vibe to it and comfortably seated groups of people.
As we both hadn’t eaten all day, we were ravenous for some great quality pizza. To start off with we both divulged in a starter each, one being the Yorkshire fennel sausage with organic tomato, mozzarella, and wild broccoli at £5.95, and the other being their garlic bread with light tomato base and mozzarella at £6.50. They were both amazing and full of flavour, the garlic bread being a staple that we love to have at any Italian restaurant, and the fennel sausage a new try for us and something that were not used to having. By branching out and having this it didn’t fail to meet our expectations and we were ready for the main courses to come.
With both of us being major pizza lovers having this as the main was a no brainer, their handmade bases and flavoursome toppings stole the show for us. From the traditional halloumi D.O.P cheese, organic tomato, roasted potatoes with onions, mozzarella, marinated baby plum tomatoes with mint & seasonal pesto pizza at £9.35, to the organic tomato, cured chorizo, & mozzarella one at £10.35, we were filled to the brim and very much satisfied with our meal.
The food was unmatched, although we weren’t the biggest fan of the potatoes on the pizza. They have a massive range of pizzas to offer which all have sourdough bases and organic tomatoes. They accommodate for everyone and have gluten free and vegetarian options as well.
Next time we go we will venture out and try different things on the menu, which all sound just as delicious as the food we had. We opted out on having any drinks and just got a bottle of tap water to share between the two of us, though they did have a wide range of drinks options. From wines to beers, to soft drinks and juices there really is something for everyone.
As university students we appreciated the prices of the pizzas as they weren’t too expensive and we managed to have a filling meal in under £20, which we have to say is almost unheard of in London, especially with it being in the heart of Canary Wharf.
For great food, great prices, and great company you can’t really fault the place, and we will definitely be going back.
If you’re ever walking down the street and happen to pass a Franco Manca restaurant, go in and enjoy the experience we did, we can only tell you so much you’ll have to go and see it for yourself.
