My first time attending a concert at the O2, I also attended alone which was a weird experience. The Vamps easily became my favourite concert after this night.
Let’s start off with the support acts.
The first act on was Henry Moodie, who was amazing! He performed his single ‘you were there for me’ which I have had on repeat non-stop since hearing it. Later singing a Taylor Swift cover of Blank Space getting the crowed hyped. He was a great artist, with an amazing voice and stage presence.
The next support as was band The Aces, an all-female American indie band. Loving their song ‘girls make me wanna die’ they definitely brought an amazing vibe and had so much energy. I have no doubt I will be listening to both acts again.
I have no words to describe the Vamps other than phenomenal. I had their first album in 2014 and seeing how much they’ve grown not just as people but as artists is incredible.
Not only performing songs from their most recent albums, but they also included some of my favourites from the first album including ‘Girls On TV’ and ‘Risk It All’ along with their more popular singles.
As a 10-year anniversary show, it had so much emotion, with the members giving speeches on how much they adore and appreciate fans, their crew and each other. It gave personalisation to the fans. Not only can the band perform amazing music, but they know exactly what to do to hype you up.
Concerts are an amazing experience, especially for myself, but they are even better with great performers. Bradley Simpson, lead vocalist, has an amazing stage presence- constantly moving around and paying attention to the crowd. His voice is exceptional. Connor Ball, bassist, gave an effortless performance along with guitarist James Mcvey, both hyping up the crowd with their amazing performance. Drummer, Tristan Evans gaining remarkable attention for his skills, he is a vibe. Even after 10 years the band are still working so well, complimenting each other’s talents, it’s a joy to watch.
With a mix of sad slower songs like their recent Christmas song ‘Seat At The Table’ and more of an upbeat sound like their debut single ‘Can We Dance’. It was marvellous to see them switch between the different sounds in a little amount of time whilst matching the vibe of each song.
The crowd was in love, each time they spoke to us I’m pretty sure I lost a bit of hearing from the amount of screaming. The full arena was a crazy thing to experience, I haven’t been in such a big venue before, but I loved it. It was so lovely to see that the crowd were getting involved with the artists, it just makes things a whole lot better.
My favourite Vamps song differs between ‘Would You’ and ‘Married in Vegas’ I was so excited to hear them live and they didn’t disappoint. I have no doubt that I will be there once the next tour comes around.
I also attended the Cardiff show, which was a completely different experience to the O2, if you’d like me to discuss the contrast let me know!
